Can I choose T-Safe if I am breastfeeding?
Yes, it is safe to use T-Safe while breastfeeding. The copper IUD does not contain any hormones and therefore has no effect on the quantity and quality of your breastfeeding. The IUD can be inserted 6 weeks after childbirth at the earliest. Usually the IUD is inserted after 10-12 weeks.
When can I become pregnant after removing my copper IUD?
After removing the T-Safe copper IUD, you can immediately become pregnant again.
Will I be immediately protected against pregnancy after the T-Safe has been inserted?
Yes, you are immediately protected against pregnancy after insertion of a T-Safe copper IUD. You can also use a copper IUD as a morning-after method. The IUD must then be inserted within 5 days of unsafe sex. The copper prevents any fertilised egg from implanting.
Please note:
Is the IUD not inserted during your period? And have you had unsafe sex more than 5 days ago? Then pregnancy must be excluded before the T-Safe IUD is inserted.
Can T-Safe also be used as a morning-after method?
There are various methods of preventing pregnancy after unprotected sex. In addition to the morning-after pill, you can also opt for the copper IUD. The IUD must be inserted within 5 days after unsafe sex. For more information, please visit morning-after.nl.
Can I become infertile through a copper IUD?
No, the copper IUD has no influence on the future fertility of women. After removing the IUD you can immediately become pregnant again.
